Description
Stumpy old man with a long flowing beard — the Turkish-loan dwarf of Albanian tale speech. Elsie 2001 s.v. Xhuxhmaxhuxh: Alb. xhuxhmaxhuxh / xhuxh, from Turk. cüce ‘dwarf’; lives in the underworld or in mountain regions; serves as the dwarf in the Albanian Snow White. Elsie notes similarity to Thopërç, but keeps a separate entry; Thopërç/Thopçi is absorbed under Herr. He is not the same as the northern weed-prune dwarf Herr.
